 At the Institute of Vocational Science in Metal Technology - IBM, a number of project and final theses from the research fields of the IBM are offered on a regular basis. If you are interested in a self-developed work topic within the research fields, you are welcome to make an individual consultation appointment with us.

Guidelines for the supervision of project work and theses

  • General information

    Your work must be in line with the research fields of the IBM and be assignable in the professional field of metal technology.

    If the work does not fit into the IBM's field of expertise, we will refer you to a corresponding institute of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering or the Faculty of Philosophy.

  • Prerequisite for project work and final theses in companies

     Your thesis topic must be consistent with IBM's research areas.

    Complete student work and the event in advance first "Einführung in die Berufswissenschaften der Metalltechnik" at the IBM. Attending the event is considered a basis for the IBM to agree to occupational science research with external stakeholders.

  • Prerequisite for project and final theses with independently developed topics.

    Your work topic must be consistent with the IBM's research fields.

    Project work: submit detailed terms of reference and a project plan.

    Professional scientific study: submit detailed terms of reference and a project plan.

    Thesis: submit detailed terms of reference and a project plan.

    Talk to a research assistant at IBM about the readiness of the project. IBM scientific staff member about the willingness to supervise your work. The supervision of your thesis only becomes binding with a task definition signed by Prof. Becker or AOR Weiner.
